!Women Art Revolution!

Eagerly wanting to see the forthcoming documentary about the feminist art movement in the 60's/70s !Women Art Revolution! There's just SO MUCH to cover!! Not to mention that the soundtrack also looks amazing. I can't wait. From the press release on the site:

For over forty years, Director Lynn Hershman Leeson has collected hundreds of hours of interviews with visionary artists, historians, curators and critics who shaped the beliefs and values of the Feminist Art Movement and reveal previously undocumented strategies used to politicize female artists and integrate women into art structures.

Model Lily Kwong and photographer Elle Muliarchyk: "Girl on A Bear Rug"

There is a movement going on with more-than-just-a-pretty-face models...one in which the model desires control of her image rather than simply being an avatar to be molded into the vision of others alone. As a fan of fashion and art photographer Elle Muliarchyk, model Lily Kwong has taken her career into her own hands by requesting to shoot with the photographer for T Magazine (NY Times). The results are a sultry and gothic feminine story. Let's hope that this interesting new trend in the fashion world takes hold as it could provide a breath of fresh air in a much needed old chain of command.

Girls Girls Girls!

A show I desperately wish I could see opens tonight at the Jenkins Johnson Gallery in NYC. A group exhibition of multimedia works featuring images of women and girls with a modern take on the evolution of the depiction of women in art. Artists include Los Angeles' own Vanessa Prager. Have a look at some of the incredible work here, and if you're in NY  be sure to check it out tonight for me! (521 West 26th Street, 5th Floor. 6-8pm)
