Goodbye Rainforest: Bush Signs Free Trade Pact with Peru

On his way out, Bush is making sure to give one last smackdown to the economy, environment, civil rights, women's rights...the list goes on and on.
The pact goes into action on Feb 1 and has been criticized due to Peru's inaction on improving labor rights and environmental standards, due to Peru's new law which allows large portions of the rain forest to be used for biofuels if deemed "a matter of national interest." For Peru, the deal will expand the duty-free access it has had to the US market since the early 1990s."
